Raj Kapoors Iconic Lantern Donated To PM Museum

The Kapoor family, including Rima Jain, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Armaan Jain and more recently visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite him for Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary celebrations. The family presented PM Modi with a gift, which is the iconic lantern that the late actor carried in his black-and-white classic Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai in 1960.

The lantern has been kept at an exhibition at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya 
on March 1. The Kapoor family had preserved the lantern for decades. As a tribute, they have now donated it to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya for his fans to cherish the precious piece. The lantern will also be showcased on the exhibition on March 1 to allow visitors to immerse themselves in the legacy of one of India’s most iconic film personalities. The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya stated that the lantern would attract visitors who want to learn more about India’s cinematic history. It also helps learn about the Kapoor family’s legacy in Bollywood.

The members of the Kapoor family had also discussed about Raj Kapoor and other stalwarts of the Kapoor family, who contributed immensely to Indian movies. Rima Jain, Raj Kapoor’s daughter had recited a fitting lyrics from one of Raj Kapoor’s songs. The lyrics from Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua of Shree 420 state, “Main naa rahungi tum naa rahoge lekin rahegi nishaniya.”

The celebrations for Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary also happened with pomp and vigour. Along with the Kapoor clan, Bollywood’s finest stars celebrated the iconic actor’s legacy. Rani Mukerji, Kartik Aaryan, Sharvari, Farhan Akhtar, Boney Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza and more graced the event. The Kapoor family was seen clicking hearty photos at the beautiful celebration.
