Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to inaugurate the 25th edition of the Jahan-e-Khusrau Sufi music festival on February 28, 2025, at Sunder Nursery in Delhi. This milestone event, curated by esteemed filmmaker and artist Muzaffar Ali, celebrates a quarter-century of promoting Sufi music and culture in India.

In anticipation of the festival, Prime Minister Modi shared his enthusiasm on social media, stating, “I will be attending Jahan-e-Khusrau at 7:30 PM tomorrow, 28th February, at Sunder Nursery in Delhi. This is the 25th edition of the festival, which has been a commendable effort to popularize Sufi music and culture. I look forward to witnessing Nazr-e-Krishna during tomorrow’s program. I compliment Muzaffar Ali Ji and the team of the Rumi Foundation for their work in this field over the years.”

The Jahan-e-Khusrau festival, conceptualized and curated by Muzaffar Ali, has been instrumental in bringing Sufi music to the forefront of India’s cultural landscape. Over the past 25 years, the festival has showcased performances by renowned Sufi artists from around the world, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Sufi traditions among diverse audiences.

The 2025 edition of the festival is set to run from February 28 to March 2 at Sunder Nursery, a heritage park adjacent to Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi. The venue’s historic ambiance provides a fitting backdrop for the soulful and transcendent performances that define the festival.

A highlight of this year’s festival is the ‘Nazr-e-Krishna’ performance, which Prime Minister Modi specifically mentioned in his message. This unique presentation aims to explore the confluence of Sufi and Bhakti traditions, drawing parallels between the devotional expressions in Sufism and the veneration of Lord Krishna in Hinduism. By highlighting these shared spiritual themes, ‘Nazr-e-Krishna’ seeks to promote a message of unity and harmony across different cultural and religious communities.

Muzaffar Ali and the Rumi Foundation have been at the helm of organizing Jahan-e-Khusrau since its inception. Their unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Sufi heritage has not only enriched India’s cultural tapestry but has also positioned the festival as a significant event on the global Sufi music calendar. The foundation’s efforts have created a platform where traditional and contemporary interpretations of Sufi music converge, offering audiences an immersive and enlightening experience.

The Prime Minister’s participation in the festival underscores the Indian government’s recognition of the importance of cultural events that foster spiritual and communal harmony. His presence is anticipated to draw greater attention to the festival’s mission of celebrating love, peace, and unity through the universal language of music.

As the Jahan-e-Khusrau festival commemorates its silver jubilee, attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of performances by eminent Sufi musicians and artists. The festival continues to serve as a beacon of cultural exchange, inviting audiences to delve into the mystical world of Sufism and its timeless messages of compassion and oneness.

For those interested in attending, the festival will commence at 7:30 PM on February 28, 2025, at Sunder Nursery, with events scheduled through March 2. Tickets and additional information are available through the official Jahan-e-Khusrau website and authorized ticketing partners.

In a world often divided by differences, the Jahan-e-Khusrau festival stands as a testament to the unifying power of music and spirituality, inviting all to partake in its celebration of shared human values.
