Exclusive: Did You Know You Are Mine Was Originally Salman Khans Solo Song?

“You Are Mine is actually the song that he (Salman Khan) had worked on. There wasn’t any plan for me to be in it. I thought the song was almost pretty much complete and ready to be released,” he said. He noted that got involved with the process when he saw Salman and Vishal Mishra jam on the song one day. While they were discussing the song, the duo decided to add eight bar section for rap verses. “They thought maybe they should carve out eight bar sections and get like a rap in. They wanted to do a high tempo section to add a bit more flavour,” he said.

However, before involving Ayaan in the project, Salman called Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Ayaan’s mother.  While talking about the same, he said, “Mamu had called my mom to ask her if I’d be interested in doing the song. I wanted to be a part of it. It’s one of my favorite songs that he has sung and created. So I was very happy to try to have a go at it. After adding my first rap part, I added the second one after a month.”

Speaking about the music video, Ayaan also said that parts of it were already shot before he featured in the song. It was shot in Panvel and areas around our farmhouse.”

Ayaan also noted that Salman has simple aesthetics. “He likes to do simple one-man behind-the-camera type music videos. That’s his aesthetic. That’s what he likes to do. Everything was planned around scenic locations and actions that he wanted to portray through the song and video,” he added.

You Are Mine officially released in 2024. It eventually featured and starred the uncle-nephew duo.
