DC Trailer Offers a Gritty First Look at Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi

The trailer of DC has significantly raised expectations for Arun Matheswaran’s next directorial venture. After establishing a distinct voice with Rocky, Saani Kaayidham and Captain Miller, the filmmaker appears to be revisiting the gritty, morally complex world that has become his trademark.

The newly released three-minute trailer offers a far more detailed look at the film than the teaser unveiled earlier this year. While the initial glimpse hinted at a brooding tone, the full trailer plunges viewers into a violent landscape filled with gunfire, bloodshed, and emotional upheaval.

The trailer opens with a disturbing image of a woman screaming inside a moving car before rapidly cutting to a series of intense action sequences and confrontations. Lokesh Kanagaraj plays Devadas, while Wamiqa Gabbi stars as Chandra. The footage suggests that their relationship forms the emotional core of the story.

Violence, emotion and Anirudh’s electrifying score

From what the trailer reveals, Devadas appears to be trying to rescue Chandra from people who have forced her into a dangerous life motivated by money and exploitation. The narrative seems to combine relentless action with strong emotional stakes, staying in line with Arun Matheswaran’s storytelling sensibilities.

Anirudh Ravichander’s background score plays a major role in shaping the trailer’s impact. His music heightens the tension and lends dramatic weight to every sequence, amplifying both the film’s action and its emotional undercurrents.

The trailer also signals that ‘DC’ will be uncompromising in its depiction of violence. Several profanities are muted, indicating that the film will feature strong language and a hard-edged treatment. This aspect has already generated discussion among fans, many of whom are curious about the extent of the film’s intensity.

The final line, “Ava peru Chandra da… (Her name is Chandra…),” provides a striking conclusion and hints at the significance of Wamiqa Gabbi’s character in the story. The moment leaves viewers with more questions than answers and adds to the intrigue surrounding the film.

With a distinctive visual style, a charged emotional premise and a commanding score, ‘DC’ looks set to be one of the most anticipated Tamil releases in the months ahead.
