When Subhash Ghai asked Jackie to meet the legendary Sanjeev Kumar, he noticed Jackie was dressed casually in a vest without a shirt and immediately stopped him, telling him to dress properly before the meeting. It was a small moment that reflected how raw and unpolished Jackie was at the time.
Reports suggest that actors like Sanjay Dutt and Kamal Haasan were initially considered for the role before Jackie was finalised. Taking a chance on a newcomer was a big risk but it paid off in a huge way.
Hero did not just become one of Hindi cinema’s all-time blockbusters, it also inspired remakes in Telugu and Kannada. The film ran for an incredible 75 weeks in theatres, turning Jackie Shroff into an overnight star and marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey in Bollywood.
