Exclusive: Bobby Deol Didnât Tell His Parents About Signing Aashram

Bobby Deol’s much-awaited crime series, Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2, is finally out. The show sees him in one of his darkest roles yet as Baba Nirala. In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, the actor opened up about taking on the negative role and why he didn’t tell his parents – Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur, before signing up to play the character.

When asked about switching gears with his more serious OTT roles, Bobby Deol admitted that he still gets nervous around release dates. “Aashram was the first time I was playing an antagonist, and I was definitely nervous. I remember, the day I was promoting the show, I had a vertigo attack because I have vertigo issues. There was a lot of nervousness and fear about how people would react to me playing a character like this.”
Reflecting on how actors get brainwashed by people around them, he shared, “Actors end up choosing the easy way out. But this [Aashram] was not the easy option. I was starting my career again, and I chose something that was away from anything Bobby Deol was ever seen as.”

Why Bobby Deol didn’t tell his parents about Aashram

Bobby Deol explained, “My parents, whom I never told about taking up a show like this, because they also try to influence you – you never know what people will say about bold characters like this. But an actor is someone who plays characters that exist in the world around us.”
“Aaj tak meri maa ko saheliyon ke phone aate hai. They keep asking when Aashram will come back. They’re all excited for a new season. That’s the amount of love the show has given all of us,” he concluded.
Ashram Season 3 – Part 2 is currently streaming on MX Player.
