Lakshmipriya Devi directed Boong has received a major honour at the BAFTAs 2026. The movie has won in the Best Children’s & Family Film category. It is co-produced by Excel Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures.
Farhan Akhtar attended the award show with wife Shibani Akhtar. The two arrived in style to accept the award. Interestingly, the film had also made its debut at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 7, 2024. It was also named the Spotlight Film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani had opened up about the movie previously. Sharing about the making of the film, he had noted that it was made “with a lot of heart.” He had also lauded Lakshmipriya Devi’s “sensitive, authentic storytelling.”
About Boong

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards or BAFTA Awards 2026 is happening at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Many celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Alia Bhatt, Emma Stone, Timothee Chalamet, Teyana Taylor, Paul Mescal, Michael B Jordan and more have arrived to attend the prestigious event.
