Heres Why Rana Daggubati Married Miheeka Bajaj

Actor Rana Daggubati has always been someone who guards his personal life closely, but in a candid chat with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast Chapter 2 with Rhea Chakraborty, he spoke about how the pandemic changed everything for him, including his decision to marry Miheeka Bajaj. Rhea reminded him of the time he randomly called her to say he was getting married the very next day, asking what sparked such a sudden decision.

Rana shared that the pandemic played a huge role in that shift. “The pandemic really did that. And when, in 2020, I just came back from the States, and then the pandemic came, I was like, ‘Dude, I just got ready. Now, what is this?’ And somewhere, I felt like the US prepped me for a pandemic. I was by myself already.” Having earlier battled serious health issues that required treatment and surgery in the US, that phase of isolation had already prepared him mentally in many ways.

It was during this uncertain time that he began speaking more with Miheeka. “And it was at that point, when I started talking to Miheeka, and I realised, okay, this is somebody I can live with for the rest of my life. I felt like it when I was speaking to her for the first time.” Though they were only acquaintances before, constant conversations during lockdown brought them closer. “We knew each other as acquaintances only, not like we were really friends or anything. We kept talking through the pandemic. We just connected, and we said, ‘Okay, let’s get married.’ And we got married. And it was awesome because it was the pandemic. I did not have to make a big celebration of it. (It was just both the families.” The couple tied the knot in Hyderabad in August 2020 in an intimate ceremony with close family.

When asked about marriage in general and why many young people today feel unsure about it, Rana admitted he once had a completely free spirit. “See, I think it is a personal one-on-one thing. It differs for each person. I could not be tied down anywhere. Sometimes it is like I am just a kite. I can just fly off anywhere. I just blow the wind. It is like, okay, now I want to live in LA. I can just go and live off there,” he said. But over time, something changed. “So, I was like, okay, that is not the energy I need now. I need something to hold on to in some way. And I think Miheeka was that for me. And marriage did that for me. She has a very zen energy,” he concluded.
