Indian fashion influencer, Sufi Motiwala recently found himself in hot waters as one of his fashion criticisms did not sit well with fans and fashion enthusiasts. We are talking about Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane’s wedding look. The actress, who got married to Ameer Gilani on February 5, 2025, fashioned a unique lehenga-choli which was crafted to complement her mother-in-law’s wedding dupatta, adding a vintage charm with immense sentimental value to her look.
Sufi Motiwala’s ‘tacky’ comments on Mawra Hocane’s wedding look
Rather than flowing with the trends of reds and pastels, Mawra opted for a look with a unique sentimental charm. She looked like a vintage bride by fashioning her MIL’s wedding dupatta which was inherited from Ameer’s grandmother. Mawra beautifully restored the outfit and even wore the jewellery that belonged to Ameer’s grandma. However, for Indian fashion critic, Sufi Motiwala, it couldn’t create a statement. Taking to his IG handle, Sufi criticised Mawra’s wedding lehenga by saying:
“This is what happens when you live in a world without Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. The fabric choice is takiana. The way that this torso has been constructed, I mean, these red lines are so questionable, like, why do they exist? It is with a sad heart that I have to say that the only thing I like about this look is the dupatta. I specifically do not like the colour collage happening.”
