Reacting to the achievement, the Prime Minister congratulated the entire team behind the film and acknowledged the significance of the moment. He said, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation,” PM Modi said. His words added to the sense of pride and celebration surrounding the historic win.

Set against the backdrop of Manipur, Boong tells an emotional story rooted in family and hope. The film follows a young boy named Boong, played by Gugun Kipgen, who dreams of bringing his family back together. Raised by his single mother Mandakini, portrayed by Bala Hijam Ningthoujam, he sets off on a heartfelt journey with his best friend in search of his missing father. Through its tender narrative, the film captures innocence, resilience and the deep bond between a mother and her child.
