The Indian film industry and music lovers across the nation are in mourning after the passing of the legendary singer Asha Bhosle. In a heartfelt tribute to the iconic singer, Riteish Deshmukh has announced a delay in the promotional schedule for his upcoming historical epic, Raja Shivaji.
Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12 at the age of 92. The news of her demise at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital was followed by outpouring of tributes on social media. In light of this loss, the makers of Raja Shivaji decided to postpone the launch of the film’s anthem, titled Chhatrapati.

The song was originally scheduled to be released to the public today. However, out of respect for Asha Bhosle, the team felt it was appropriate to pause their celebrations.
The production house released an official statement via their social media accounts to inform fans of the change. The statement expressed the sorrow felt by the team: “The voice that ruled our hearts for decades has fallen silent today. With the passing of the legendary Asha Bhosle, we mourn the loss of a golden chapter in music. As a mark of respect, we are postponing the release of the Raja Shivaji anthem, Chhatrapati. A new date will be announced soon.”
Raja Shivaji is directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also takes on the lead role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Genelia Deshmukh as Saibai, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amole Gupte.
The film is currently slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026. While the anthem launch is temporarily on hold, the industry continues to reflect on the monumental legacy of Asha Bhosle, who will be laid to rest with full state honours at Shivaji Park in Dadar.
