The song and the film have been slammed by a section of audiences for the sexual representation of women in Hindi cinema through her character. Urvashi had taken bold steps to present herself in the song. Now, lately, she has opened up about netizens talking of the actress being sexualised in the movie.
Urvashi Rautela opens up on sexual portrayal in Daaku Maharaaj
For the unversed, Urvashi plays the role of a police officer in Daaku Maharaaj. Her introduction scene was about her being clad in a yoga avatar, and the internet was left in splits over her sexual representation of women. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter India, the actress was asked about her character being sexually portrayed. She said:
“My stance is that when I sign a film, I trust and believe in my director. When a character is written, it’s part of the story’s narrative. As actors, we can’t interfere too much or dictate how a character should be portrayed. Once we sign a film, we cannot question the director’s vision.”
