Jaideep Ahlawat opens up on working with Dharmendra in Ikkis

The passing of Dharmendra in November 2025 marked the end of an era for Indian cinema. He left behind a legacy that continues to resonate deeply within the film fraternity. As Ikkis released earlier this year, the emotions surrounding the film were inevitably heightened. The war drama features the veteran actor’s final on-screen appearance.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat shared significant screen space with Dharmendra in the film. He recently opened up about the experience in an interview with The Times of India. Reflecting on the legend’s demise, Jaideep acknowledged the collective grief felt across the country. “I think all cinema lovers felt it. There wasn’t a single soul who didn’t feel bad,” he said. His sentiments highlighted the underlying emotional vacuum Dharmendra’s passing has left behind. The absence felt particularly pronounced during the film’s promotional phase.
He also spoke about how the promotions felt empty without the veteran actor. “I felt a void while promoting Ikkis. I wish he was there with us, watching the film and seeing his work,” Jaideep shared. He went on to add that such thoughts, though painful, are part of accepting destiny.

Recalling his time on set, Jaideep spoke fondly of Dharmendra’s warmth and humility. Working alongside the icon never once felt intimidating according to him. Instead, the veteran actor made everyone feel at home. He remembered the late actor as someone who constantly lightened the atmosphere. He would crack jokes, narrate stories, and recite poetry between takes. “Being with him felt like being with family,” Jaideep noted in the interview.
Professionally, Jaideep Ahlawat recently replaced Akshaye Khanna in Drishyam 3. He will also be seen in Siddharth Anand’s King. He adds his prowess to the star-studded cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji among others.
