Karthi has long enjoyed a special relationship with Telugu audiences. His journey in the Telugu market began with the dubbed successes of Yuganiki Okkadu and Awara in the late 2000s. These films established him as a versatile performer and, over the years, his popularity evolved into a dedicated fan base.

His collaboration with Akkineni Nagarjuna in Oopiri further strengthened his standing in the region. Later, the massive success of Khaidi cemented his position as a bankable star among Telugu audiences. Most recently, the emotional depth of Sathyam Sundaram (Meiyazhagan) resonated strongly with viewers after its theatrical release.
The actor is now reportedly ready to star in straight Telugu films. This transition began with a surprise cameo in HIT 3 in 2025. Produced by Nani and directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the appearance effectively marked Karthi’s formal entry into the HIT universe. Industry buzz suggests that the actor could eventually headline a future instalment in the investigative franchise.

A superhero action entertainer first
Before moving on to the next HIT film, Karthi is set to headline a new project directed by Kalyan Shankar. The filmmaker, who earned acclaim for the MAD series, is reportedly developing an action entertainer with a superhero twist. The upcoming film features Lucky Baskhar and Guntur Kaaram fame Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. The project was officially launched this week. Karthi has often expressed gratitude for the affection he receives from Telugu audiences. The actor has repeatedly said that Telugu viewers have never treated him like an outsider and have always embraced his films with warmth and enthusiasm.
Busy phase ahead
With Sardar 2 and Marshal also in the pipeline, Karthi is entering one of the busiest phases of his career. Alongside these Tamil projects, the actor is now expected to expand his footprint further with two straight Telugu films.
