The Wrecking Crew is releasing soon on Prime Video. It is about estranged half-brothers Jonny (Jason Momoa) and James (Dave Bautista), who reunite after their father’s mysterious death. It is built on the real-life friendship between Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. The film turns off-screen camaraderie into its biggest strength. What started as a casual idea years ago has now evolved into a full-throttle action comedy.
Opening up about how the project came together, Momoa reveals, “This idea of this movie I had years back. Me and David have been playing brothers on See, and I had a wonderful experience with him. I mean, he’s the best, and I pitched it to him. I said, ‘Hey, what do you think? Me and you can play brothers too, because we wanted to be together again, but it’ll be comedy. It’ll be fun.'”
Beyond the action and laughs, Momoa highlights that the film mirrors their real-life dynamic in ways audiences will instantly feel. “I mean, we’re close buddies, but we’re still very different. We’re very Yin and Yang, but I consider him a brother,” he expresses. “Dave is definitely more chill, more stay-in. I’m surrounded by people. I like to have fun, much like Jonny,” he added.
The movie is directed by Angel Manuel Soto. It stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista in the leading roles. Other cast members include Claes Bang, Jacob Batalon, Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin in key roles.
The makers have revealed that the film will have explosive set pieces with irreverent humour and an emotional core rooted in family. They have promised a wild ride where loyalty is tested and everything is fair game. The Wrecking Crew will premiere worldwide on Prime Video on January 28, 2026.
