Varun Dhawan is fresh of the success of Border 2. In the war drama, he shared the screen with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Anya Singh and Sonam Bajwa among others. During the success press conference of the film, the actor opened up about the trolling he faced and also revealed Salman Khan’s sweet reaction to his performance.
The press conference was attended by the entire team of Border 2. Varun was asked about the trolling he faced due to his smile, to which the actor said that trolling people has become a trend now. However, he did not take it to heart.
Recalling how Salman Khan supported him, Varun continued, “When all this was going on, I got a phone call from Salman bhai at night. He was just laughing, and he said, ‘Good things are about to come’. His advice and belief meant a lot to me.”
He added, “When the film was released and did so well, he called me again and said, ‘I am so happy for all of you.’ Something he said that stays very close to my heart — he said, ‘I am proud of you, beta.’ It was 2 in the morning, and I just stood up on my bed. That was one of the most defining moments for me because he doesn’t praise people easily. Even his praise has a twist. He didn’t need to do that, but him saying that gave me a lot of confidence.”
Directed and co-written by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 war film Border. Backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and J.P. Films, the movie revisits the 1971 India-Pakistan war with a much larger canvas. It presents a multi-front narrative, showcasing coordinated operations by the Army, Air Force and Navy. Sunny Deol returns as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, serving as the emotional core and mentor to a group of younger soldiers played by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty.
