Simar, the daughter of Akshay’s sister Alka Bhatia, is set to make her acting debut in the film Ikkis, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. She will star opposite Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, in this highly anticipated project.
The emotional episode unfolded when Akshay Kumar spotted a newspaper featuring Simar’s photograph alongside an article about debut stars of 2025. The actor shared the image on his Instagram story, where he expressed pride and heartfelt emotions about his niece’s achievement. In his caption, Akshay wrote, “Seeing my picture in the newspaper for the first time was a proud moment, but seeing your loved one shine is an incomparable joy.” He also sent blessings to Simar, adding, “The sky is your limit. You have my blessings, dear.”
This is a significant milestone for Simar, who has inherited the passion for films from her uncle. Akshay’s sister Alka had Simar during her first marriage. Following a divorce, Alka married businessman Surendra Hiranandani in 2012. Simar, who grew up in a supportive and close-knit family, is now gearing up to make her mark in the Indian film industry.
The film Ikkis marks a turning point in Simar’s career and has already created a buzz with its announcement. Directed by Raghavan, known for films like Andhadhun, the project promises a unique cinematic experience.
