After much anticipation and various speculations about its progress, Kartik Aaryan’s aviation drama, Captain India, is finally moving toward filming. The project, which was first announced in 2021, is now reportedly scheduled to begin filming between May and July 2026. When the film was initially introduced almost five years ago, the first look featured Kartik Aaryan in a pilot’s uniform, creating a buzz. At that time, acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta was attached to direct the project. However, after a long period with no updates, the project saw a change in leadership.
The film is now being directed by Shimit Amin, the director celebrated for his work on the 2007 hit Chak De! India. While there were recent rumours suggesting that Amin might have exited the film, sources close to the development have clarified that he remains the director. The delay in starting the shoot was the main reason for the rumours, but the film is now back on track. According to a report by Mid-Day, the makers are currently targeting a specific summer window for the shoot. An insider shared, “The makers are eyeing a window between May and July for filming.

The timeline for Captain India is aligned with Kartik Aaryan’s current professional commitments. The actor is currently busy filming a project for T-Series. The source added, “Kartik is currently shooting for another T-Series film, and once that’s done, he’ll begin Captain India.” Kartik was last seen in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri directed by Sameer Vidwans. Fans are also looking forward to his upcoming film Naagzilla, which is slated for an August 2026 release. He is also working on an untitled musical film with director Anurag Basu and Sreeleela.
With Shimit Amin at the helm and a clear filming schedule now in place, fans are now looking forward to witnessing Kartik in this new avatar.
