The intensity of the accident necessitated immediate surgical intervention on an emergency basis. Varun Tej is currently stable and remains under ‘close medical supervision’ as he begins his recuperation.

Varun Tej consistently exerts himself to meet the gruelling demands of sports-centric narratives. His injury highlights the physical intensity of the role. During the production of the boxing drama Ghani, he suffered a similar injury that required months of intensive physical therapy and a disciplined rehabilitation program. Despite these hurdles, he maintains a formidable physique, as evidenced by his lean and agile appearance in the action thriller Gandeevadhari Arjuna. The makers of Bhari exude confidence that Varun will recover on time and regain full strength soon, by the time the film commences shooting next month.

While his period gangster drama Matka did not meet commercial expectations, it showcased his willingness to take creative risks. His upcoming project, Korean Kanakaraju, promises a peppy Indo-Korean horror-comedy crossover. His current project, Bhari, aims for a rustic and naturalistic portrayal of rural life, focusing on authentic sports choreography and deep human emotions. Operation Valentine, released in 2024, was based on the Pulwama Attack and the retaliatory Balakot Air Strikes of 2019.
