In a major breakthrough in the firing incident outside Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence, the alleged shooter has been arrested following a joint operation by the Mumbai Crime Branch and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.
The accused, identified as Pradeep Kumar alias Gaath, was apprehended in Agra after weeks of investigation and coordinated intelligence efforts between the two police units. According to officials, the arrest marks a significant development in a case that had raised serious concerns about the safety of high-profile individuals in the film industry.
The incident dates back to February 1, 2026, when unidentified gunmen opened fire outside Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Multiple rounds were fired, with at least one bullet striking the glass railing of his balcony. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the attack sent shockwaves through the industry and prompted an immediate security review.
During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime along with several associates. Police sources revealed that the attack was carried out under the influence of a criminal gang, with the intention of creating fear and asserting dominance in the underworld.
Investigators further stated that the accused had been influenced by the gang’s presence on social media platforms, which allegedly played a role in motivating the crime. The case has been registered under multiple sections, including those related to organised crime, and authorities continue to probe the larger network behind the incident.
Several other suspects linked to the case have already been arrested in earlier operations, indicating a wider conspiracy. Officials have emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying all those involved and preventing similar incidents in the future.
