Mahesh Babu is currently in Amsterdam for an intense fitness regime. The superstar is preparing for the next schedule of Varanasi. Celebrity trainer Tarun Sharma recently shared a post about working with the Tollywood star, saying he grew up watching Mahesh Babu on the big screen. He added that he is thrilled to be guiding the superstar through his physical training.
‘Training Mahesh Babu was deeply personal’
Tarun Sharma has worked with international royals and Grammy winners. However, he admitted that training the Srimanthudu actor felt deeply personal. The trainer noted that the actor still looks exactly the same as he did years ago, impressing him with his calmness and focus. He praised the Dookudu star for his professionalism and composure during their week of training. This stint in Amsterdam is crucial for the actor’s role as Rudhra in the upcoming global adventure directed by SS Rajamouli. In early 2024, Mahesh was in Germany to train under Dr Harry Konig. It marked the first major fitness phase ahead of the shoot of Varanasi.
A history of physical transformations
Mahesh Babu is no stranger to physical transformations for his roles. He famously achieved a lean and rugged look for his blockbuster film Pokiri. That transformation set a new trend in the industry. For the film 1: Nenokkadine, he worked with one of the world’s most recognised transformation experts, Kris Gethin, to achieve a world-class physique. He often adapts his routine to match the requirements of his directors.
For his current project with SS Rajamouli, the stakes are even higher. The actor has grown out his hair and beard for a more rugged appearance. He maintains a strict discipline that involves training nearly every day of the year. Varanasi, also starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is scheduled for release on April 7, 2027.
