Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film, Emergency was released on January 17, 2025, and has received mixed reviews so far. The film registered a modest opening of just Rs. 2.35 crore, but it is still the biggest opening of Kangana’s career in the last five years (post-pandemic). The film is based on the 21 months of Emergency from 1975 to 1977, which was pulled into action by the then-Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

The film featured a series of notable actors who portrayed several famous personalities in Indian history who broke into headlines for multiple reasons. From Anupam Kher playing Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw to Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram and Mahima Chaudhary as Pupul Jayakar, all the actors looked brilliant in their respective roles.
