Akhil Akkineni’s upcoming romantic action-drama Lenin will now release on July 10, 2026. It will not debut in theatres on the originally announced date i.e. June 26. Apparently, certain scenes require reshoots to ensure the final product meets expectations.

Nagarjuna backs team’s passion
Akhil’s father and Lenin’s co-producer Akkineni Nagarjuna broke the news amid media speculation. He suggested that director Murali Kishor Abburi (who has previously made Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha) wanted to redo some portions. “Team Lenin came to me with a request. They asked for a little more time to give their absolute 100%,” Nag posted on social media on X. He backed their passion and gave his full support. He used the term ‘Manodu Vasthunnadu’, which has been almost like a punchy one-liner.
Nagarjuna’s confidence in Lenin has been public and vocal. Back in April, after watching the first cut, he took to social media with a striking declaration. “I say this with confidence and pride… you are about to witness a new Akhil,” he wrote. The date has since shifted, but his conviction has not flinched. His Saturday post echoed the same energy. “You will see a new Akhil!! Get ready for the Lenin experience,” he shared.

A significant project for Akhil
Akhil’s filmography as a lead actor remains relatively short, consisting of five theatrical releases: Akhil (2015), Hello (2017), Mr. Majnu (2019), Most Eligible Bachelor (2021), and Agent (2023). Against this backdrop, Lenin assumes particular importance. Its genre, the expectations surrounding the project, and the three-year gap since his last release all contribute to its prominence in Akhil’s career trajectory. The film also features Bhagyashri Borse in what appears to be an intriguing role. Recently, the song Soul of Lenin struck a chord with audiences and added to the film’s growing anticipation mainly because of how the heroine looks in it and Thaman’s intense composition.
