It has been 34 years since Shah Rukh Khan entered the film industry. In 1992, the actor made his debut with Deewana and changed the course of Bollywood history forever. Over the decades, SRK has become one of the most beloved and influential stars in the world. Known as King Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood and the King of Romance, he built an extraordinary filmography with classics such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Devdas, Swades, Chak De! India, My Name Is Khan and many more.
His first major recognition came early. Shah Rukh won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (Male) for Deewana. Accepting the Black Lady from Rekha, the young actor delivered a heartfelt speech that remains memorable even today.
Dedicating his first major win in the film industry to his late mother, the actor said, “The first time I got a medal in school, which was in third class, I came running home to show it to my mother. I was very excited. I was very sad she wasn’t there. The first time I am getting a major award in the film industry, and she is still not here. So this one goes out to her. This one is for you, Mom.”
Beyond films, Shah Rukh has also built a formidable business empire. He is the co-owner of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, and the founder of the production company Red Chillies Entertainment, which has backed several films and is regarded as one of India’s leading VFX studios.
