Pradeep Ranganathan is officially stepping into production. The actor, writer and director has launched his home banner, PR Show, with its maiden venture, tentatively titled PRS01. The announcement comes after reports that Pradeep was backing a woman-centric project, with the launch video confirming the film and introducing its core cast and creative team.
Pradeep Ranganathan’s next act begins
Mamitha Baiju leads the film, with Ashwath Marimuthu playing a prominent role alongside Swasika, debutant Anamika Mahi and Telugu actor Sivaji Sontineni. While the makers have chosen not to reveal the plot, the announcement suggests that the project will take a different route from the conventional commercial entertainer.
One of the film’s biggest talking points is its unique directorial setup. Rather than being helmed by a single filmmaker, PRS01 will be directed by the Alpha Unit, a team comprising Vishal TR, Yash V, Naren Saoda, Chanakkiyan R, Dhanush Kumar and Ilamparithi. Pradeep has also written the story, making this his first production under PR Show while continuing to shape the film creatively behind the scenes.
Sai Abhyankkar reunites with Pradeep
The launch video was accompanied by the release of Aane Wala Star, a promotional track composed by Sai Abhyankkar, who reunites with Pradeep after Dude. Clocking in at 132 seconds, the song has the feel of an energetic title anthem, introducing the film’s youthful vibe. The lyrics are credited to an anonymous writer identified only as “Dholu bholu.”
Beyond the music, the announcement has generated interest for the film’s unconventional approach. A six-member directorial team is a rarity in mainstream Tamil cinema, and the makers appear to be positioning PRS01 as a collaborative creative effort. The project also reunites Pradeep and Mamitha Baiju after Dude, adding another point of interest for audiences familiar with their previous collaboration.
With PRS01, Pradeep is expanding his portfolio beyond acting and directing into production. While details about the story and release timeline remain under wraps, the combination of a female-led narrative, an ensemble cast, an unusual filmmaking model and Sai Abhyankkar’s music has already put the project on the radar as one of the more interesting Tamil film announcements in recent weeks.
