After his recent return from Ukraine, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s death at the age of 71 has increased public attention on his personal life and political career. Although Lindsey spent several decades of his life in public service and the spotlight, he was one of the few politicians who never got married. In turn, several years before his death, the South Carolina senator had explained that he never had the right opportunity to marry.Â
Why did Lindsey Graham never marry?
Lindsey Graham discussed his personal life in detail in his 2015 memoir, My Story. But, he did not give any dramatic or philosophical explanation. Instead, he mentioned that it all came down to timing. He wrote that he never found the right person at the right stage of life. In his words:
“I’ve never married. I guess I attribute that to timing, too. The opportunity never presented itself at the right time, or I never found time to meet the right girl, or the right girl was smart enough not to have time for me.”
