Being married to the actor for over four decades, Sunita seems to have kept the spark alive with her calm demeanour in crises and tendency to lighten sombre moods with funny quips. Govinda’s accidental gunshot injury in October 2024 left fans in shock, but his wife, Sunita Ahuja’s reaction was an unexpected mix of worry and humour.
Sunita Ahuja shares her first reaction after learning about Govinda’s gunshot incident
Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Sunita recalled how she got the news that Govinda had been shot in the foot while handling his revolver. She was out of Mumbai at that time, away from home. She received a call from her driver early in the morning with the shocking news that Govinda was shot. When Govinda himself took the phone and confirmed the accident, she joked whether he had shot himself. Recalling the day, Sunita shared:
“At early morning, my driver calls me saying, ‘Sahab ko goli lag gayi’. I said ‘lagi ya kisini maar di?’ That’s when he said, ‘revolver rakh rahe the, gir gaya’. Then Govinda spoke to me saying goli lag gaya. I told him, ‘Tumne kahi khud toh nahi maar diya’. He said, ‘Abhi bhi Mazak soojha raha hai’ That’s when I told him not to panic and calm down.”
