Hansika Motwani is set to headline one of the most ambitious projects of her recent career with Paradox, a pan-India suspense thriller that recently went on floors with a traditional muhurat ceremony in Bengaluru. The film also marks an important milestone for choreographer Captain Kishore, who is making his directorial debut after years of working in the industry.
Hansika headlines an ambitious new thriller
For Hansika, the project signals a return to Kannada cinema after a considerable gap. The actor made her Sandalwood debut opposite the late Puneeth Rajkumar in Bindaass and is now gearing up for her second Kannada outing. Designed as a multilingual release, Paradox aims to reach audiences across India with its blend of suspense, action and emotional drama.
Hansika plays the central character in a story that explores the dark and dangerous world of organ trafficking. Positioned as a female-led thriller, the film promises a narrative driven by mystery while tackling a socially relevant issue.
Speaking about the project, director Captain Kishore described Paradox as a story built around a powerful protagonist.
“Paradox is built around a strong female protagonist. It is a story that combines suspense, mystery, and emotion while exploring the issue of organ trafficking,” Kishore said, adding that Hansika was his first choice for the role.
The actor has steadily expanded her filmography across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema over the years. While she has been associated with commercial entertainers for much of her career, Paradox appears to offer her an opportunity to headline a more intense, performance-oriented role.
A pan-India project with international ambitions
Joining Hansika in the film is Sonu Sood, who plays a pivotal role alongside veteran actor Ravishankar. With performers from multiple film industries coming together, the makers are positioning Paradox as a project with nationwide appeal rather than one confined to a single regional market.
Producer Karthik Reddy believes the scale of the production will help the film stand apart from conventional thrillers.
“This is not a regular commercial film. We believe the story has universal appeal, and we are approaching it with high technical standards to deliver a film with an international scale and visual appeal,” he said.
The makers are also investing heavily in the film’s action. Renowned stunt choreographer Dr K Ravivarma has designed five elaborate action sequences that are expected to play a key role in the narrative while heightening the tension and suspense surrounding the story.
Behind the scenes, the film brings together an experienced technical crew. Sai Ram serves as the creative head, while cinematography is handled by Raju and editing by Deepak.
Although the makers have kept several plot details under wraps, the film’s focus on organ trafficking suggests it will blend crime, investigation and psychological tension with emotional storytelling. The combination of a socially relevant subject, stylised action and a female-driven narrative could help Paradox carve out its own identity in the growing space of pan-India thrillers.
The launch ceremony in Bengaluru officially kickstarted production, with more announcements regarding the remaining cast, music, and release plans expected in the coming months.
For Hansika, who has recently been balancing commercial entertainers with more content-driven projects, Paradox represents another attempt to diversify her on-screen choices. Whether the film lives up to its ambitious vision remains to be seen, but it has already generated interest by bringing together an unusual subject, a multilingual canvas and a cast led by familiar faces from across the Indian film industries.
