Fahadh Faasil is venturing into uncharted territory with Don’t Trouble the Trouble, a fantasy entertainer that promises magic, mystery and mischief in equal measure. The makers unveiled the film’s first teaser on Monday, offering audiences a colourful glimpse into the whimsical world created by debutant director Shashank Yeleti. Presented by SS Rajamouli, the film also marks Fahadh’s first full-fledged Telugu feature.
Fahadh Faasil steps into a magical new world
The nearly two-minute teaser introduces Fahadh as Soori, a magician whose playful tricks leave a young girl, played by Ssara Palekar, completely mesmerised. Known around his neighbourhood for getting into trouble, Soori’s life takes an unexpected turn when one of his spells seemingly makes the little girl disappear.
What initially appears to be a harmless act of magic soon spirals into something much bigger. Delighted by her newfound abilities, the girl explores the city while discovering the extent of her powers. But when Soori attempts to discipline her, she retaliates by triggering a massive power outage across the locality. Alarmed by the chaos he has inadvertently unleashed, Soori scrambles to find a solution. The teaser closes with a surprising reveal that the girl is, in fact, a genie capable of granting wishes, hinting at an adventure filled with fantasy, humour and emotional stakes.
The teaser keeps most of the film’s larger plot under wraps while showcasing imaginative visuals and an offbeat tone that stands apart from conventional commercial entertainers. Alongside Fahadh and Ssara Palekar, the film also features Saurabh Sachdeva in a pivotal role.
Teaser divides audiences ahead of September release
While the teaser has generated curiosity, it has also prompted varied reactions across social media. Many viewers appreciated the film’s unusual premise and praised its willingness to embrace fantasy in a light-hearted setting. Others, however, were less convinced by the visual style, with some calling it “outdated” and drawing comparisons to Mohanlal’s Barroz. “I am curious to see how this movie will perform,” one user commented, echoing the cautious optimism shared by a section of viewers.
At the same time, several fans welcomed the teaser’s quirky energy, with some expressing hope that the film could emerge as an unexpected crowd-pleaser in the mould of Aavesham. Many were also excited to see Fahadh Faasil experiment with a fantasy role, a space he has rarely explored during his career.
The project is backed by producers SS Karthikeya, Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the Showing Business banner in association with Arka Media Works. The team had earlier collaborated on the successful distribution of Premalu, making this another notable venture for the producers.
On the technical front, Don’t Trouble the Trouble features music composed by Kaala Bhairava, cinematography by Brad Francis ACS and editing by Praveen Anthony. Hamza Ali has co-written the screenplay alongside director Shashank Yeleti.
With its blend of fantasy, comedy and emotion, the film appears to be aiming for a family audience while offering Fahadh yet another opportunity to showcase his versatility. Whether its unconventional premise translates into box office success remains to be seen, but the teaser has certainly ensured that the film has become one of the more intriguing releases to watch out for this season.
Don’t Trouble the Trouble is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on September 11 in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
