Priyanka Chopra Jonas is all set to make her comeback to Indian films with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi. The film will mark her Telugu debut and also her first time sharing the screen with Mahesh Babu. She recently appeared on the Hey Jonas podcast where she spoke about her experience of working with the filmmaker. The actress also revealed that she has done a lot of slow-motion jumps in the film.
The actress said, “I have been working on it for about 14 months now. But SS Rajamouli is known to take that kind of time to make movies. He called me for this movie and its epic adventure around the world and in time. It has taken a minute but I am so excited about it. I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps in it and that’s all I can say about it.”

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli revealed some time back that Varanasi will find its emotional anchor in a deeply moving father-son relationship. This core dynamic will drive the narrative across its breathtaking canvas. The globe-trotting adventure, slated to release in theatres on April 7, 2027, is expected to be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
While its scale is enormous, the makers believe the emotional core will be crucial in holding the narrative together. Prakash Raj plays Mahesh Babu’s father in the film.

The protagonist Rudra, played by Mahesh Babu, will travel through incredibly diverse landscapes. His journey takes him into the deep wilderness of Africa and across the icy expanses of Antarctica. Audiences will also witness unexpected fantasy elements woven into the narrative. Priyanka also said in one of her recent interviews that Varanasi is unlike anything she has ever done. “This is unlike anything I’ve ever done. And just the worlds that he creates are so larger than life, and nobody has the vision that he does. So even I’m excited to see more,” she told Variety.
