Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming mythological action-adventure Vrushakarma has achieved a significant pre-release milestone. According to industry sources, the Zee network has acquired the film’s non-theatrical rights in a deal valued at over Rs 48 crore. The agreement includes both satellite television and digital streaming rights, reflecting strong confidence in the project ahead of its theatrical release.
The film, which blends deep-rooted Indian mythology with high-octane treasure hunting, marks another ambitious step in Naga Chaitanya’s evolving career following the success of Thandel. Moving beyond the romantic dramas that shaped his early filmography, the actor has increasingly embraced stories that demand physical transformations and unconventional characters.
In Vrushakarma, Chaitanya plays Arjun, a treasure hunter embarking on a mythological adventure. Speaking about the project earlier, the actor said he had always wanted to be part of a large-scale spectacle driven by visual effects and fantasy, making Vrushakarma a dream project for him. Naga Chaitanya pushed himself into “beast mode” and underwent a dramatic physical transformation for the film. Dedicated to his character’s strenuous action sequences, the actor significant time to build a heavily muscled physique, sporting a rugged beard to match his avatar as a mythical protector.
Directed by Karthik Dandu, the film blends mythology, adventure and action. The makers have hinted that the final 30 minutes, particularly the climax, will be among the film’s biggest highlights. The cast also includes Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sparsh Shrivastava and veteran actor Jayaram in pivotal roles. Scheduled for a Dussehra 2026 release, Vrushakarma is one of the most anticipated Telugu films on the upcoming release calendar.
The film also continues Naga Chaitanya’s recent shift towards diverse roles. In Thandel, he earned praise for his grounded performance, while his Prime Video series Dhootha saw him portray journalist Sagar Varma, a morally conflicted character drawn into a supernatural mystery. Vrushakarma promises yet another distinct avatar for the actor.
