Who Is Andrew Truelove? ‘Today’ Show Intruder Charged With Hate Crime After Craig Melvin Encounter

NBC Studios had a troubled start to the day on Thursday, July 16, 2026. While the filming of the Today show was going on, it was shockingly interrupted by an intruder, now identified as Andrew Truelove. The suspect stormed into the network’s studios at New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza, allegedly looking for Al Roker.

Instead, the intruder lunged at co-host Craig Melvin while hurling racist slurs. The shocking incident has now put Truelove in the spotlight, with authorities filing multiple hate crime charges against him.

What happened at the Today set?

According to the New York Police Department, the 41-year-old is facing charges of hate crime burglary, hate crime menacing, hate crime criminal trespass, and harassment. He has not yet been arraigned.
