Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s reflective update on his personal blog reveals that he underwent surgery and spent time in the intensive care unit at a Mumbai hospital. He has now been discharged and is recovering at home.
The 83-year-old actor opened up about his medical stint and the ongoing recovery process. In his blog post, the legendary star wrote about being “.. in Hospital in a surgery and in the ICU, under the care of proficient Doctors and medical Staff .. a discharge .. and a homecoming ..” He spoke about the emotional and physical toll that follows a major health setback. Describing the recovery process, he wrote, “this homecoming period is the most difficult phase .. physically, psychologically and practically ..” Reflecting philosophically on feeling low after a health issue, the actor drew a parallel between life and competitive spirit. “.. you are a revered Champion and one day a defeat stares at you .. this is the most difficult phase of your life ..” he noted.

The versatile actor turned poetic about the importance of resilience and acceptance. He shared that “.. some brave it .. some succumb .. they that strive and be brave ever remain Champions .. they that do not, get reconciled and live, exist in the past glory .. a choice each makes individually .. nothing wrong by either .. be well be happy ..”
He did not share specific details about the nature of the medical procedure. His fans and well-wishers across social media platforms are wishing him a speedy recovery.
Recent hospitalisations
In July 2020, Amitabh was hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic. In March 2023, he suffered a painful rib injury and a muscle tear in his rib cage while shooting an action sequence for his film Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad. He was advised rest and took several weeks to recover at his Mumbai home.
