
In a tragic turn of events, deaf actress Kaylee Hottle, who rose to fame with her role in Godzilla vs. Kong, passed away on July 21, 2026. Kaylee, who was just 18 years old met with a car accident. It was her father, Joshua Hottle, who shared the tragic news in an emotional Facebook livestream using American Sign Language (ASL).
Meet Kaylee Hottle’s multi-generational deaf family
Kaylee Hottle was born in Georgia in an all-deaf family. Her father, Joshua Hottle comes from a family with four generations of deaf relatives. On the other hand, Kaylee’s mom, Ketsi Carlson, was born in Korea and was adopted into a family in Wisconsin. Kaylee’s parents are both deaf and the actress was born in a deaf culture.
Kaylee, who attended the Texas School for the Deaf, was very fluent in American Sign Language. She was very active in track and field and loved her school since everyone conversed in sign language there. She once spoke about her school and revealed, “It’s a great school for deaf students to go to. I have deaf teachers, and everyone is able to communicate with me through sign language.”
