After Tom Cruise split from his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, rumours were abuzz that he had ‘abandoned’ their daughter, Suri Cruise. Several magazines and publications had also alleged the same. However, Tom Cruise soon shut them down and even went as far as to file a lawsuit against them, claiming that the publications had defamed him. He argued in a deposition:
“What I find most disturbing is that I have to sit here and look at this photograph of my daughter with ‘Abandoned by Daddy’ (across it) – to me, that is what sticks out the most.”
