In July 2016, California marketing manager Michelle Hadley was arrested and spent 88 days in jail after being accused of cyberstalking her ex-fiancé Ian Diaz’s new wife, Angela Connell. Authorities claimed Michelle Hadley sent threats and lured men with fake ads.
Investigators later found the plot was a frame-up orchestrated by Ian Diaz and Angela Connell. Both were convicted. Netflix’s A Toxic Love Story revisits the case, framing it as domestic abuse and a warning about manipulation in relationships. The case has recently witnessed a new update as a letter has been discovered that Michelle wrote for Ian.
