Ravi Kishan has found himself at the centre of a fresh meme wave on social media, with his old videos, dance clips, candid moments and now-viral one-liners being turned into memes and widely shared across platforms.
Amid the ongoing meme fest, the actor turned politician recently opened up about his newfound internet popularity in an interview with News18. He said he actually enjoys seeing his candid moments being transformed into viral content and memes.
Explaining why he thinks his videos resonate with people, Kishan said he has been influenced by a wide range of performers, from Al Pacino and Amitabh Bachchan to Balraj Sahni, Shah Rukh Khan, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. “I enjoy this because this is me! I’m from Al Pacino to Mr Amitabh Bachchan to Balraj Sahni to Shah Rukh Khan to Michael Jackson to Elvis Presley… Itni saare log mere sharir mein naachte gaate rehte hain. Toh main itni fusions deta rehta hoon ki yeh desh aisa deewana hee rehga. I’m the same guy jisne 20 saal pehle bola tha, ‘Zindagi jhandwa, phir bhi ghamandwa.’”
Ravi also made it clear that he does not deliberately create these viral moments or plan his words and mannerisms for social media. “I’m not trying anything. I’m not reading anything. I’m not doing extra theatrical or anything or planning ki iss tarah bolunga. It’s just the moment I come and something happens to my body and words nikalte hai. Aur kuchh bhi hota hai, whether Parliament mein bhaag raha hoon ya kuchh bhi hai, it becomes viral.”
This is not the first time Ravi has reacted to his unexpected internet fame. Earlier this year, he admitted that he still couldn’t understand why his accidental slips kept going viral, including the much-memed “home from work” moment and his earlier “jaldi the late” phrase.
Speaking about why audiences seem to be responding to him so strongly at this point, Ravi attributed it to timing, blessings and goodwill. “So, it’s just the time, blessing shower of God, humare purwajo ka, everyone from family, people praying. I believe in that.”
