Filmfare has learnt that all is not well behind the scenes of The Vvaan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s much-hyped folklore fantasy that’s been through more than its share of release-date shuffles already. As per sources close to the production, the film is currently undergoing a significant reshoot and re-edit, with the original direction team replaced.
Deepak Mishra, who has helmed the project since its inception, along with the film’s original backers, TVF, have been removed from the driver’s seat, our sources reveal. Niraj Kothari and Sahir Raza are now said to be overseeing the edit, working closely under the direction of Ektaa Kapoor, whose Balaji Motion Pictures has co-produced the film from the start.
Sidharth Malhotra, sources say, personally pushed for 17 additional days of reshoots, with the actor keen on reworking both the climax and the film’s action sequences. It’s a request that speaks to the scale of the overhaul underway. What makes this development even more eyebrow-raising is the timeline: The Vvaan is currently locked for a September 25 release, meaning the makers have precious little room to course-correct before it hits theatres.
The film, presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11:11 Productions, has already weathered multiple postponements — first from its original Chhath Puja 2025 window, then May 2026, then August 28, before finally settling on its current September date. Officially, those delays were attributed to extended post-production and VFX work. Whether the latest shakeup adds further pressure to that timeline remains to be seen.
Neither the makers, TVF, nor representatives for Sidharth Malhotra have issued an official statement on the reported changes. We will update this space as more details emerge.
