The trailer of Once More has arrived, offering a closer look at Vignesh Srikanth’s upcoming romantic drama starring Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar. Running for around two-and-a-half minutes, the trailer introduces a young man still grappling with the emotional weight of a previous relationship, even as another woman enters his life hoping to win his heart.
At the centre of the story is Arjun Das’ character, who appears unable to completely move on from his past. While his previous relationship continues to cast a shadow over his present, Aditi Shankar’s character attempts to build a connection with him. The resulting conflict forms the emotional core of the film, with the trailer suggesting a story less concerned with the mechanics of falling in love and more interested in what happens when someone is unable to let go.
Sona Olickal also plays a significant role in the film as another of the protagonist’s love interests. The dynamic between the three characters appears to drive much of the drama, with the film exploring the complications that arise when love, memory and the need for closure overlap.
Rather than presenting heartbreak simply as an obstacle before a conventional happy ending, Once More seems to approach it as part of a larger process of healing. The trailer touches upon ideas of second chances and emotional closure, suggesting that moving forward can sometimes require confronting what has been left unresolved.
For Arjun Das, the film marks another opportunity to explore a romantic lead after building a reputation through more intense and dramatic roles. His distinctive voice and screen presence have made him a recognisable performer in Tamil cinema, and Once More places him in a more emotionally driven setting.
A debutant director and Hesham Abdul Wahab’s Tamil debut
Once More marks the directorial debut of Vignesh Srikanth, who has also written the screenplay and penned the film’s lyrics. The project is backed by Yuvaraj Ganesan under the Million Dollar Studios banner.
The film brings together a cast that includes Devadarshini and Dravid Selvam, alongside Arjun Das, Aditi Shankar and Sona Olickal. Behind the camera, cinematographer Aravind Viswanathan, editor Nash and art director Raj Kamal form part of the principal technical team. Ranjith Venugopal has handled sound design, while Navadevi Rajkumar is the costume designer.
One of the film’s major musical attractions is Hesham Abdul Wahab, who makes his Tamil debut as composer with Once More. The composer has become a familiar name among South Indian audiences through films including Hridayam and Hi Nanna, with his melodic approach earning him a strong following. Although Once More was announced some time ago, Hesham has subsequently had other Tamil projects reach audiences, making this project particularly interesting for listeners who have followed his work.
The makers have already begun building anticipation through promotional material, including the film’s jukebox and videos for several songs. Among them, Vaa Kannamma has attracted attention on social media, adding a musical component to the film’s promotional campaign.
Interestingly, Once More shares its title with the 1997 Tamil film directed by SA Chandrasekhar, which featured Sivaji Ganesan, Vijay and Simran. The new film, however, tells an entirely different story and is positioned as a contemporary relationship drama.
With the cast and crew currently stepping up promotions, Once More is gearing up for its theatrical release on August 28. For a film built around heartbreak, second chances and the possibility of finding love after loss, the real question is whether Arjun Das’ character can finally make peace with his past before embracing what lies ahead.
