The official trailer of Immortal, starring GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar in the lead, has been unveiled by actor Dhanush, offering a glimpse into a story where romance, mystery and supernatural horror come together. Written and directed by Mariyappan Chinna, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on September 4.
Immortal trailer introduces a strange new romance
The trailer opens on an intriguing note, introducing a couple from another time gathered around a bonfire before shifting to the present-day story. GV Prakash Kumar plays Mahi, a young man searching for accommodation, while Kayadu Lohar’s Sindhu is looking for someone to share her home with. Their paths eventually cross, and Mahi moves into Sindhu’s apartment.
What begins as a convenient living arrangement soon develops into something more for Mahi. He becomes increasingly fascinated by Sindhu, and his new life with her starts resembling the romantic fantasy he has been dreaming about. However, the seemingly perfect situation does not last long. The mood changes dramatically as strange events begin unfolding inside the apartment.
As Mahi gets closer to Sindhu, the line between his romantic aspirations and a terrifying reality begins to disappear. The trailer suggests that the house holds a dark secret and that Sindhu may know considerably more about the unsettling events than she lets on.
From dream romance to supernatural nightmare
While the makers have kept several details of the plot under wraps, the trailer makes it clear that Immortal is not simply a conventional love story. Its central relationship appears to be connected to a supernatural force that threatens Mahi once he becomes entangled with Sindhu.
The film’s earlier promotional material had already hinted at a giant creature and a disturbing turn in Mahi’s attempts to get closer to the woman he desires. The new trailer expands that world, introducing a darker fantasy element while maintaining the mystery surrounding Sindhu and the apartment. The film has been positioned as a fantasy horror thriller, with its unusual premise placing a romantic relationship at the centre of a supernatural conflict.
Immortal marks the first on-screen pairing of GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar. The cast also features TM Karthik, Kumar Natarajan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Aaditya Kathir, Arshu Maharjan, Pema Tsamchoe and Sunita Shrestha.
Sam CS has composed the music for the film, with lyrics by the composer as well as Shalli C, Sharanya Gopinath, Tamizh Aadhavan, Sathyan Illanko and Na Idhaya. Arun Radhakrishnan is the director of photography, while Rajesh M handles the editing and Siva Sankar serves as the art director. Stunt choreography has been handled by R Sakthi Saravanan and GN Murugan.
Produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran under the AK Film Factor banner, Immortal has already generated curiosity with its unconventional premise. The film has also cleared censorship formalities and is now gearing up for its September 4 theatrical release.
With GV Prakash Kumar’s character seemingly caught between desire and danger, and Kayadu Lohar’s Sindhu remaining an enigmatic presence, the trailer leaves one question hanging: is Mahi living the dream he always wanted, or has he walked straight into a nightmare from which there may be no escape?
