Fans of Jr NTR have exciting news about the actor’s upcoming film, Dragon. The already ensemble cast of the action thriller has just gotten bigger! Word on the block is that Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor will join the cast of the Prashanth Neel directorial soon. According to sources, Alia Bhatt and Shahid would play significant characters in the Jr NTR-starrer. Their casting has almost been finalised, but the makers aren’t announcing the names yet. The production team is reportedly working on Alia and Shahid’s logistics, date diary and documentation to make a formal announcement. While the gossip mills have been abuzz with news of Alia and Shahid’s casting, their presence will significantly boost the film’s visibility in the Hindi belt.
Jr NTR-Alia’s second collaboration
Jr NTR and Alia Bhatt share a strong professional and personal bond, having starred together in SS Rajamouli’s epic film RRR. Dragon will be their second collaboration. Alia played Sita in RRR, marking her Telugu debut. Despite her limited shared screen time in the film, Jr NTR and Alia established a close friendship and bonded well during the promotional events and shoots.
Shahid Kapoor, the surprise package
Perhaps no one would have thought Shahid Kapoor would be part of a Jr NTR-starrer. His inclusion in the project has certainly surprised many. Rumours are rife that Shahid has been roped in to play a character with grey shades.
“Prashanth Neel had written a role that has high impact and drives the narrative. When the director suggested Shahid Kapoor’s name for the part, Jr NTR too endorsed it. Moreover, since Dragon is being made at a pan-India level, the makers believe that Shahid’s addition to the project will significantly improve the film’s business in North India,” says a source in the know.
Dragon revolves around cartel war
Dragon features Jr NTR as a ruthless and deadly assassin named Luger, while Anil Kapoor appears as Raghuveer Rathod, the Chief of India’s Narcotics Bureau. The film is an action saga set after British rule, focusing on global opium cartel wars between the Afghan Trading Company and the Golden Trading Company.
