Action Director Oh Sea-young Breaks Down Ranveer Singhs Intense Prep For Dhurandhar: The Revenge

As Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues its record-breaking run at the box office, new details have emerged about the level of dedication Ranveer Singh brought to the film’s complex stunt sequences. To bring this nearly four-hour movie to life, the team roped in a global team of action directors, including Oh Sea-young, Yannick Ben, Aejaz Gulab, and Ramazan Bulut. South Korean action veteran Oh Sea-young, who has worked with some of the biggest names in Bollywood, recently shared his experience working with Ranveer, describing his energy as unlike anything he has seen before.

Speaking to Midday, Oh Sea-young was high in praise for Ranveer’s physicality and commitment. He mentioned, “Ranveer is a beast, pure energy.” While many stars rely on doubles or quick rehearsals, Young revealed that Ranveer took a remarkably academic and obsessed approach to mastering his fight choreography. According to the stunt director, Ranveer was the first actor he had encountered who treated action sequences like a script to be studied. Young shared, “He is the first actor I know who takes notes on fights and choreography. He’d ask things like, ‘If I’m throwing a right hook, where is my left hand?’ He would write everything down.”

This level of detail-oriented preparation extended right up until the cameras rolled. Ranveer would reportedly ask for live demonstrations immediately before a take to ensure his movements remained sharp and authentic. Young admitted his surprise at Ranveer’s natural flair for the genre, especially given his career trajectory. He said, “I was shocked he hadn’t done a pure action film before. Ranveer can master it in a short time through sheer obsession.”

The film’s gritty and stylized action is the result of a rigorous four-step process implemented by director Aditya Dhar. This included building mock sets in the studio to design choreography, filming test versions, and conducting final rehearsals on the day of the shoot.

Among the film’s many highlights, the final confrontation between Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal has become a talking point for fans. Moving across a mosque, open fields, and a container yard before ending on a train, the sequence was a massive sequence. Oh Sea-young and Aejaz Gulab spent over 20 sessions on this climax alone to ensure it delivered the vibe and grit the director envisioned.
