Akshay Kumar is one of the most loved actors of present times and he has given many superhit movies over the years including Bhool Bhulaiyaa but currently Kartik Aaryan is the leading man of the franchise.
Akshay Kumar’s 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa is loved by many and it has gained a cult status over the years. So when Kartik Aaryan took over the lead role in the second and third parts of the franchise, it stirred up quite a buzz. While some fans enjoyed Kartik’s performance, others missed seeing Akshay in his iconic role. Recently, Akshay revealed why he wasn’t part of the sequels.
During an interaction, a fan told Akshay that they didn’t watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 or Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 because he wasn’t in them. Akshay simply replied, “Beta, mujhe nikaal diya tha (I was fired). That’s it.”
The first Bhool Bhulaiyaa movie was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. Akshay played Dr. Aditya Shrivastava, a psychiatrist, while Vidya Balan portrayed a woman with dissociative identity disorder who believes she’s possessed by a dancer’s ghost. The movie became a classic for its mix of horror and comedy.
Kartik Aaryan entered the franchise with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, released in 2022, where he starred alongside Kiara Advani and Tabu. The film received praise for its fresh storyline but fans couldn’t help comparing Kartik’s performance to Akshay’s iconic role.
In Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik was joined by Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Triptii Dimri. Fans were thrilled about Vidya’s return and hoped Akshay might make a cameo but that didn’t happen.
However, the good thing is that Akshay Kumar is working in the third part of Hera Pheri and it may be possible that we may see Akshay and Kartik together in one of the movies of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise.
