Yash Raj Films’ latest spy thriller Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, has finally hit theatres. The film marks a significant milestone for the YRF Spy Universe as its first female-led action spectacle.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Alpha earned Rs 9.25 crore nett at the Indian box office on its opening day. The film’s domestic gross collection stood at approximately Rs 10.80 crore. On the international front, the film is estimated to have grossed around Rs 5 crore, taking its worldwide gross opening-day collection to approximately Rs 15.80 crore. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 20.40% on Friday, with night shows registering the highest occupancy at 34%.

Notably, Alpha has opened better than Alia Bhatt’s previous action outing, Jigra, which had collected Rs 4.55 crore on its first day at the Indian box office. However, Alpha has registered the lowest opening-day collection among films in the YRF Spy Universe. The coming weekend will now be crucial in determining whether word of mouth can help the film witness a significant jump in collections at the box office.

Filmfare’s Review of Alpha
Filmfare’s reviewer gave Alpha 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, “Big-budget female-led action films remain surprisingly rare in mainstream Hindi cinema, and Yash Raj Films deserves credit for backing one on this scale. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari prove beyond doubt that they belong in this universe. They can handle the action, carry the emotional scenes and command the screen with complete confidence.
Alpha may not be the strongest film in the Spy Universe, but it gives the franchise something it genuinely needed: a fresh perspective. Now all the makers need is a story every bit as fearless as the women leading it…”
