Veteran actor Prem Chopra recently opened up about his special bond with Amitabh Bachchan, revealing how the Big B supported him during a recent health scare. Speaking about their long-standing relationship, Prem Chopra shared that Amitabh is one of his closest friends on WhatsApp. He revealed that ever since he faced health issues, Amitabh has made it a point to check in on him every single morning without fail. “Ever since I fell ill, every morning there is a message from him: ‘Get well soon, Prem’. ‘Prayers for you,’” Chopra shared during a conversation with Hollywood Reporter India. Interestingly, the messages haven’t stopped even though he has returned to good health. Chopra jokingly added, “Maine bola usko, yaar main theek ho gaya (I told him, buddy, I have recovered). But he persists sweetly.”
Prem Chopra, famous for his iconic roles as a villain, was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in November last year. Doctors had diagnosed him with a viral infection alongside age-related complications, including severe aortic stenosis. Providing further details on the recovery, Chopra’s son-in-law, Sharman Joshi, had previously shared that the veteran underwent a successful TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) procedure. This advanced medical treatment allowed for a valve replacement without the need for traditional open-heart surgery. According to Sharman, the procedure was smooth and complication-free, leading to a steady recovery at home.

The bond between these two icons is built on decades of shared history. Prem Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan were icons of Hindi cinema throughout the 1970s and 1980s. While Amitabh often played the hero, Chopra was the antagonist in several blockbuster hits. Their notable collaborations include legendary films such as Do Anjaane, The Great Gambler, Benaam, Mard, and Naseeb. With a career spanning over 60 years and more than 380 films, Prem Chopra remains one of the most respected figures in the industry, and this gesture from Amitabh Bachchan highlights the mutual respect that exists between them.
