Some creative partnerships are made in heaven. Vidya Balan and Sujoy Ghosh gave us the timeless classic Kahaani, back in 2012. The film even had a sequel featuring Vidya Balan. Kahaani 2 from 2016, was more of a spiritual sequel, with Sujoy Ghosh and Vidya recreating a different kind of story. But now, there’s buzz in the bay that a proper sequel to Vidya Bagchi’s story may be on the cards. Kahaani 3 might be in the offing, but there’s no ‘Class A’ confirmation on this development.
Yet, Filmfare’s trusted sources have revealed that a script has been locked in director-producer Sujoy Ghosh’s office and that Vidya Balan has approved of it, too. Not just that, there’s been whispers of Ghosh’s casting team having sent feelers to the original cast of the film. So fans can hope for a reunion of Vidya Balan, Parambrata Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saswata Chatterjee. So, Vidya Bagchi could return to see Bob Biswas, Rana and Khan in the mix all over again. That’s exciting stuff for sure.
Our sources don’t have fool proof confirmation on these developments, but this news is all too exciting to not be shared with the fans and the millions of cult fanatics who’ve enjoyed Vidya Bagchi’s on-screen story over the past decade. Vidya was recently seen in the sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, as she matched steps with Madhuri Dixit and Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. It will be great to see her collaborate with Sujoy again, too. Sujoy on the other hand, recently opted out of Shah Rukh Khan’s King, where Suhana Khan is slated to be a part of the cast, too. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand took over the reigns of King after Sujoy’s departure.
