The makers of Idhayam Murali, starring Atharvaa in the lead, have officially announced that the film will hit theatres on July 10. Directed and produced by Aakash Baskaran, the film has already generated attention for its ensemble cast and the return of composer Thaman S to acting.
Atharvaa headlines youthful entertainer
The release announcement was unveiled with a new poster featuring Atharvaa alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam and Thaman. The film also stars Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan as the female leads.
The supporting cast includes Niharika NM, Sudhakar Jayaraman, Natty, Anju Kurian, Angelin B and Yashashree Rao. Going by the promotional material released so far, Idhayam Murali appears to blend humour, emotions and friendship within a commercial entertainer format.
The project also marks Atharvaa’s second collaboration with Aakash Baskaran. The producer is also backing Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela and Ravi Mohan.

Thaman returns to the screen after two decades
One of the major talking points surrounding Idhayam Murali is Thaman’s acting comeback. Before establishing himself as one of South Indian cinema’s leading composers, Thaman made his acting debut in Boys, directed by S. Shankar. The 2003 musical drama remains his only full-fledged acting role to date.
His appearance in Idhayam Murali therefore marks a return to the screen after more than two decades. Given Thaman’s popularity as a composer across Tamil and Telugu cinema, his comeback has added an extra layer of curiosity around the project.
On the technical front, the film features cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Costume design has been handled by Pallavi Singh, while Dravid Selvam has additionally worked on the dialogues alongside Aakash Baskaran.
While the makers are yet to reveal further details about the plot, the film’s youthful cast, colourful visuals and ensemble dynamic have already created strong buzz ahead of its release.
