Reid Wiseman is an experienced naval aviator, test pilot, and engineer with a long career in both the military and space exploration. He is the Commander of Artemis II, leading a crew of four to test the Orion spacecraft’s systems in lunar orbit. Selected as an astronaut in 2009, Reid previously served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station (ISS) in 2014, spending 165 days in space. The 50-year-old was also the Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA’s Johnson Space Centre from 2020 to 2022. He is a Baltimore native, holds a Master’s in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and has over 27 years of service in the US Navy.
