The release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has brought with it plenty of thrills, but one of the biggest talking points remains the unexpected cameo of Yami Gautam. While fans were delighted to see her on the big screen, it turns out they weren’t the only ones caught off guard. Danish Pandor, who plays Uzair Baloch in the film, recently revealed that the cast was also kept in the dark about her cameo.
In a conversation with News18, Danish shared his surprise about Yami’s role as Shazia Bano, a nurse who shares a key moment with Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza. Despite being a key part of the film, Danish admitted he had no clue she was part of the film until he saw it himself. Danish explained, “I wasn’t aware of her cameo, in the sense that I didn’t know at what point she comes in. These decisions are all taken by the director himself. So, I was completely oblivious of it. I was totally surprised as I wasn’t there when she shot for her cameo.”
Even though her screen time is brief, Danish was quick to praise the impact Yami has on the film. He mentioned that her presence enhances the scenes she is a part of. He added, “Her part in this film is done so beautifully. It’s such a strong cameo. She enters the frame and the whole frame lifts up. It was a delight to see her onscreen. I personally think Yami ma’am is a beautiful actress and a terrific performer at the same time.” Beyond discussing the surprise cameo, Danish spoke warmly about working with director Aditya Dhar. Having spent over a year and a half working under his guidance including intensive pre-production workshops, Danish described the filmmaker as a major personal inspiration. He particularly admired his ability to maintain a sense of calm on a high-pressure film set.
Danish remarked, “There’s one thing that I can say about him and that is he’s one of my biggest inspirations. The kind of a person that he is… he’s just terrific! On a film set, there’s so much chaos every time you go to shoot a scene but he always stayed calm. He went with the flow.” He further mentioned that despite the burden on his shoulders about the film’s outcome and managing a massive cast and crew, Aditya remained focused and humble.
Danish also talked about Aditya’s professional journey and the perseverance it took to reach this point. He recalled how a project Aditya was supposed to direct in 2006 with Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan never materialized. “He waited for a long time. Things were culminating but then shutting down but he didn’t lose his hope. He stayed true to his craft and trusted the process,” Danish said, citing the director’s success with Uri: The Surgical Strike.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues to dominate the box office, featuring an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
