Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups were heading towards a massive box office clash this March. However, the Yash starrer postponed its release, citing the unstable situation in the Middle East. Now, Dhurandhar actor Rakesh Bedi has reacted to the same.
Bedi played the role of Jameel Jamali, a politician who is key to the narrative. Reacting to Toxic’s postponement, the actor said, “Tension toh humare liye bhi hai Middle East main, par hum toh aa rahe hai (the tension exists for us, too, in the Middle East, but we will release our film).”
Dhurandhar 2 will be released theatrically on March 19 while Toxic will now be released on June 4. The first part of Dhurandhar was not allowed to release in Pakistan and across six Gulf countries. However, that did not stop the Aditya Dhar directorial from becoming a box office hit. It crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark worldwide and collecting over $32 million overseas.
Recently, R Madhav, who also plays a key role in the film, highlighted how fans from Dubai are reacting to the ban in the Gulf. He shared an interesting insight into the film’s craze, revealing that fans in Dubai are making special travel arrangements to India just to catch the movie on the big screen.
He said, “That’s the power of good content. Now they are planning their business meetings around March 19 so that they can attend the meeting and watch Dhurandhar 2 because it’s not releasing in Dubai. For them, it would be so easy to just watch it on IPTV, okay? And I’m sure they could. But they want to experience watching a film like Dhurandhar in a theatre full of people.”
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will pick up right where the first part left off. It will follow the events post Rehman Dakait’s (Akshaye Khanna) death and see Hamza’s (Ranveer Singh) rise and his ultimate mission to dismantle the terror network in Pakistan.
The film will be released theatrically on March 19.
